A Lengthy Break

I have no been painting much over the last 3 or 4 months.  I have actually packed up all my paints and I am preparing to move around January.  I decided to hang up my brush for the time being and once things get settled, I will likely get back into painting.

Loeb and Police

I haven't been painting much, but I did manage to finish the Loeb box set for Batman this week. Hoping to use these guys this weekend.

Sarissa Buildings for Batman

Since Sunday, I have been busy painting 5 Sarissa buildings to use for our Batman board.

They were pretty easy to do and took about 2 hours each.

I simply primed the pieces black and then sprayed whatever color afterward. Everything was done with the airbrush. I tried using a brush, but it just didn't work.

I still plan to add a few more details here and there. I also want to get started on some kind of road or gaming mat for these buildings.

More Knight Models

I got my second order of Knight Models in last week. I've been trying to get a bunch of them painted for this week's upcoming games.

I have since gone back and touched up The Huntress' face. I didn't notice the problem until I had looked at this picture.

And the piggies. I didn't care for these models really and ended up painting them quickly.

With all these models, I should be able to put together a decent Bat crew.

Two Face Goons

I rushed my last two models a bit this morning. They were two Two Face cronies. I ordered the starter set for Two Face, but it was out of stock. Only these two arrived.

I wasn't sure how to paint these guys. The models were a little strange in places. I also wasn't sure if they should be split into the colors or not. I finally decided on this and I think they look okay for underlings.

I would like to put in another Knight Model order, but a lot of places are out of stock. Hopefully some online stores will get stock soon.

But, for now, I am gonna work on objective markets.

I made this one quickly today. A Titan container.

I should be able to finish it off tonight.

Lobo

I managed to finish Lobo this morning. I think I can still add a few details to his face, but I don't have a fine enough brush to do it at the moment.

I was getting bored with my grey brick and rock bases, so I went with grass for this one.

He was very quick to paint surprisingly. I thought I was going to spend much more time on it than I did.

I have two more goon models to finish before I wrap up my first order of Knight Models.

Solomon Grundy

Yesterday's project was Solomon Grundy.

This is another very large model. The model is only a little smaller than Clayface.

I was a little disappointed with his left arm. It had a huge gap between the body and the arm. It looked like a possible miscast, but I am unsure. I had to use a lot of green stuff to fix it up.

I am very happy with how he turned out. However, after painting him, I noticed I made a pretty big mistake with his shirts. For some reason, I separated his outfit into three shirts, which really doesn't make much sense when you look at the model. I think I was supposed to paint his sleeves the same color as his jacket, but I thought they were different when I was painting. My easy explanation for this is that the yellow undershirt is actually a vest and his jacket sleeves have been torn off. Works for me.

Overall, I am happy with him and cannot wait to use him in a game.

Black Mask Crew and some Cronies

I had a lot of free time this weekend, so I spent a good chunk of it painting my new Knight Model order.

I decided to go with Black Mask and some of the other goons and gangsters that came with him.

Highlighting the black faces was certainly the weirdest part and in the end, I don't think I did a great job. I actually painted the guy of the left's face probably 10 times. Finally I just settled on a blackish gray dry brushing. Good enough.

These two are obviously much more colorful than the others. Nearing the end, I was getting tired of browns and grays. So, Mr.Red and Mr.Yellow were born.

Clayface

My first order of Knight Models came in last night.

I wanted to start with an easier model to help me get back into the swing of things. So, I decided to go with Clayface.

First, the model is large and heavy. Unfortunately, it is very front heavy because of his stance. This will likely mean he'll have a tendency to tip over while playing.

The model was very easy to paint. It is just a combination of browns with multiple washes.

Then I did his face, which was just a few details.

I like how the model turned out. It is simple, but looks sharp. My only concern is the tipping over thing when we put him in a game.

DaClash Update

It has been more than two months. I took a long break after my last batch of Bushido models. I've had too many good PS4 games to enjoy.

I am expecting a Knight Model Batman shipment soon, so I wanted to get the DaClash models I've had sitting around finished.

Gobleon certainly turned out the best.

I am happy with Jack as well.

These ones were simple, but good enough.

And finally Rambit. I am a little annoyed at how poorly I cleaning the flash on this model. Oh well.

And this is my DaClash set. I doubt I'll be buying more. I will mostly just try to play it whenever I can.

Savage Wave Starter

I finally got my hands on the Savage Wave starter box. It was always out of stock.

After painting the Maggoth Lord, I wanted to take a break. However, one of my friends finally said that he wanted to try out Bushido this coming Sunday. So I decided to rush the starter box.

Now that it is finished, I am going to take a break from painting. Play some games. Clean up all my supplies. Maybe even buy a new airbrush next paycheck since my current one is having issues.

But a break is needed nonetheless.

Here is Zuba.

These are dark photos because the lightbulb in my lamp blew this morning and I was too lazy to go to the store.

And here is a shitty photo of his Bakemono.

My Maggoth Lord

After spending so much time building small models from Bushido and Infinity, I decided it was time for a new style of model. I don't really play WH:F, but I do love their models, especially the new bigger models they have been releasing.

So, I grabbed a Maggoth Lord box a few weeks ago and have been working on it since.

The big model has been a nice change. It has given me so much more room to work.

I spent quite a bit of time green stuffing some cracks and based it in a light brown color.

I went with green skin simply because I like using green. I also used a skin tone for his stomach, but then later went a bit heavy with the red guts. Oh well.

I wanted to darken the areas around his wounds and pimples. It was a little darker than I had wanted as I wanted a redder tint. I later went over each spot with a light red drybrushing.

I spent quite a bit of time going over each pimple. I did four or five coats with yellow/green mixtures and then I finished with the Nurgle Rot paint.

The Maggoth was pretty much done at this point. I then magnetized his mouth and the lords waist.

I plan to paint all three lords, but as of now, I have just this green guy done.

Last night, I spent some time doing a quick base and this is where the model is currently at.

This has certainly been the longest amount of time I've spent on a single model. I think I am around 20 hours so far. I will get the other lords done, but not this week.

Overall, it was super fun to do this model and I think it is one of my best looking models. I think I'll be buying more GW models in the future for fun painting project...and who knows...maybe even a nurgle army.
